Paul Scully, Minister for Planning and Public Space, the Illawarra Clean Energy Summit was an important opportunity for the region’s business community to hear from leaders in government and industry on the Illawarra’s exciting future in renewable energy generation, transmission, storage and export.

The Illawarra Clean Energy Summit and Expo was held on Monday 14th August 2023 at a repurposed Warehouse on BlueScope grounds.
During this event, Business Illawarra welcomed the announcement that consultation would begin on an Illawarra Offshore Wind project zone, saying the starting gun has been fired for significant investment to flow into the region’s economy which will allow it to reach its potential as a clean energy powerhouse.
The Illawarra is home to a strong, diverse and growing renewable energy sector which benefits from leading research at the University of Wollongong and advanced supply chains in related fields.
Held in partnership with Endeavour Energy and Oceanex, the summit presented expert panels discussing opportunities making the Illawarra a future clean energy, renewables and clean manufacturing powerhouse.
The exhibition component of this event showcased the expertise and technology that is driving this industry, and provided a platform for all key players to present to their businesses.
